CuriEUs Youth

Cabinets of Curiosities – Empowering Youth in Shaping the European Cultural & Political Landscape

Strengthening Youth Civic Engagement

To foster active citizenship among young people by providing them with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to engage in dialogue with European policies and institutions. The project encourages meaningful participation in democratic life, empowering youth to voice their perspectives and contribute to policy discussions at local, national, and European levels.

Promoting European Identity Through Cultural Heritage

To enhance awareness and appreciation of Europe’s shared cultural heritage by using participatory and intercultural methodologies. Through creative exploration and collaborative learning, young people are encouraged to reflect on common European values, diversity, and social cohesion, strengthening their sense of belonging to the European community.

Developing Digital, Creative, and Advocacy Skills

To equip young people and youth workers with essential digital competencies, creative thinking skills, and advocacy tools. The project supports capacity-building in digital curation, storytelling, critical thinking, and policy engagement, enabling participants to design initiatives, create impactful content, and actively advocate for social change.

WHAT WE DO

The CuriEUs Youth project is an innovative European initiative aimed at strengthening young people’s civic participation by promoting a deeper awareness of European cultural heritage and its connection to contemporary political and democratic debate. The project encourages youth to actively engage with European values, policies, and institutions, fostering a sense of responsibility, belonging, and shared identity within the European community.

Inspired by the historical tradition of the “Cabinets of Curiosities”—collections of objects designed to spark curiosity and critical questioning—CuriEUs Youth uses cultural artifacts as a starting point for exploration, reflection, and dialogue. Through this symbolic and creative framework, participants are invited to examine Europe’s shared heritage, understand its diversity, and reflect on how culture intersects with current social and political challenges.

The project adopts a phygital approach (physical and digital), combining in-person activities with online tools and collaborative platforms. Participants explore European cultural heritage through objects and curated collections, engage in workshops, cultural exchanges, and co-creation sessions, and develop meaningful connections between art, history, and European policies. This blended methodology enhances accessibility, creativity, and transnational collaboration.

CuriEUs Youth primarily targets young people aged 15–25 from diverse backgrounds and representative groups, ensuring inclusivity and intercultural dialogue. It also involves youth workers and trainers active in non-formal education and youth empowerment, supporting them in developing innovative methodologies and digital competencies. By bringing together young participants and educators, the project fosters a dynamic learning environment that strengthens civic awareness, critical thinking, and active democratic engagement across Europe.

Key Activities

CuriEUs Youth is built around a set of interconnected activities that combine culture, creativity, and civic engagement. The Cabinets of Curiosities Web App provides a digital space where young people can curate artifacts, explore cultural stories, and develop proposals linked to European values and policies.

The project also features a Cultural Hackathon, an interactive event where participants collaboratively reflect on cultural heritage and contemporary social challenges through creative problem-solving.

A Study Visit in Poland offers first-hand experience of civic participation and European youth initiatives, fostering exchange and transnational learning.

In addition, training sessions for youth workers strengthen skills in digital curation, advocacy, and youth participation in policymaking.

The project concludes with a Manifesto and Policy Recommendations, a collective document presenting concrete proposals and advocacy strategies developed by the participants.
