On the 15th of June, KEHSIA continued the positive momentum generated by the previous day’s activities with an engaging and highly interactive training organised within the framework of the Sexuality Connect project. Hosted in a welcoming and supportive environment, the session brought together young people, youth workers, educators, and community stakeholders for an afternoon dedicated to learning, dialogue, reflection, and practical skill development.
The final session of Sexualit Connect training (fully available on Sexuality Connect Youtube Channel) addressed a topic of growing importance in contemporary society: how young people experience and navigate relationships, sexuality, and digital environments. In a world where online interactions increasingly shape personal relationships and access to information, participants explored the opportunities and challenges that young people encounter, while reflecting on the responsibility of youth professionals to provide accurate guidance, emotional support, and safe spaces for discussion.
Rather than relying on traditional lecture-based methods, the training was designed as a participatory and experiential learning experience. Through facilitated group discussions, collaborative exercises, real-life case studies, and scenario-based activities, participants were encouraged to actively engage with the topics and share their own perspectives. This interactive approach allowed attendees not only to deepen their understanding of key concepts but also to learn from one another’s experiences and professional practices.
Particular attention was given to themes such as digital safety, healthy and respectful relationships, consent, communication, and inclusive sexuality education. Participants examined common situations that young people may face both online and offline, discussing strategies for addressing misinformation, supporting informed decision-making, and promoting respectful behaviour in diverse social contexts. These conversations highlighted the importance of creating environments where young people feel heard, respected, and empowered to express themselves without fear of judgment.
One of the last part of Sexualit Connect last training’s main objectives was to provide participants with practical tools and methods that they could immediately apply in their own work and communities. Throughout the afternoon, attendees exchanged ideas, co-created activities, and explored educational approaches that can facilitate open and constructive conversations around sexuality and relationships. By the end of the session, participants reported feeling more confident in managing sensitive discussions, responding to challenging questions, and supporting young people in a professional and empathetic manner.
A particularly valuable aspect of the event was the diversity of perspectives represented in the room. Participants came from different backgrounds and levels of experience, creating a rich learning environment where knowledge and good practices could be shared openly. The respectful and inclusive atmosphere encouraged meaningful dialogue and fostered a sense of mutual trust, allowing everyone to contribute actively and feel comfortable discussing topics that are often considered sensitive or difficult.
The training once again demonstrated the importance of dialogue, education, and collaboration in creating safer and more inclusive spaces for young people. By empowering youth workers and educators with knowledge, practical tools, and greater confidence, the Sexuality Connect project contributes to building communities that are better equipped to support young people in navigating relationships, sexuality, and digital life in a healthy, informed, and respectful way.
