The Cultural Association SKILLHUB successfully organized and hosted its second online creative workshop as part of the REWIND Project, continuing its journey of artistic exploration and collaboration with young participants across Europe.
Held on 21 April, the workshop introduced participants to the genre of the graphic novel, offering them the opportunity to develop the foundation of an original visual narrative that will later be refined and completed during the third workshop in Thessaloniki, Greece.
The session encouraged active participation, idea exchange, and collective creativity. After an initial introduction to the graphic novel format, participants engaged in a brainstorming session where they explored narrative possibilities, characters, and visual storytelling approaches.
A key moment of the workshop was a video presentation and tutorial led by Giambattista Rosini, Art Director of SKILLHUB and a multifaceted freelance artist active since 1995. With extensive experience in visual communication, advertising, and design, Rosini shared insights from his artistic practice, characterized by a continuous research approach and a pop-inspired visual language ranging from illustration to painting. His contribution provided participants with both inspiration and practical guidance on how to structure and develop a graphic novel.
Following the presentation, participants were divided into three working subgroups. Each group collaborated on building the menabò (draft framework) of their graphic novel, including the development of characters and their personalities, a synopsis, an introductory scene, dialogues, titles, and storyboard sequences. The collaborative structure encouraged teamwork, with at least one participant per group contributing drawing skills to support the visual development process.
The workshop concluded with a final recap in the main session, where participants shared their progress and reflected on the creative process.
SKILLHUB warmly acknowledges the enthusiasm, collaboration, and artistic engagement demonstrated throughout the workshop. The outcomes reflect the creativity and commitment of the participants, aligned with the values and objectives of the REWIND Project.
