About me
As a 15–year-old student from the European School of Luxembourg II, my experience at KEHSIA was my very first internship. Since I plan to pursue university studies in the domains of economics and management, I felt that this organisation would reflect my career choices and hopes for the future the best. KEHSIA is a wide network of very diverse stakeholders, so it was truly a remarkable opportunity for me to expand my knowledge, gain new skills and work in a motivating environment on causes that do matter and make a difference.
My responsibilities
My main tasks involved building and managing a network of relations database, which meant in practice that I had to research, collect and recognise relevant information using a wide range of sources. Additionally, I was provided with previous databases, internet access, availability of printing equipment and communication tools via email. During these two weeks, I got to experience what it is like to work in a professional and international environment, and I have also become more confident in using digital tools to organise and analyse information.
My average day
A typical day started off with checking the database I was working on. Throughout the day, I used different sources to back up given information. I was encouraged to ask questions and reach out for help if needed. At the end of the day, I reviewed my work and made sure everything was structured properly and in a user-friendly way.
KEHSIA as a workplace
I have found the environment very welcoming and supportive, and I would wholeheartedly recommend it to a friend. During these two weeks I was motivated by the fact that the work I was doing was contributing to something bigger, which felt like an achievement in itself. This job has changed my perspective because it has helped me understand the responsibilities and dynamics of a professional environment better.
My takeaway
In conclusion, I had an enriching time during these two weeks. The values KEHSIA stands for are incredibly inspiring and I am extremely grateful for the opportunity of having been able to be part of such a wonderful and committed team. This experience has reminded me of how fulfilling it is to have an impact on the people and society around us. Therefore, it strengthened my desire to build a future where I can do exactly that.
