Building Respect: Sexuality Connect at the “Costruire il Rispetto” Dissemination Event

On 27 July 2026, the Sexuality Connect project took part in the dissemination event “Costruire il Rispetto” (Building Respect), held at Palazzo del Podestà in Castell’Arquato (Italy). The event brought together educators, youth workers, associations, institutions and local stakeholders to discuss how to promote healthy relationships, prevent gender-based violence, and strengthen community participation.

The afternoon opened with institutional greetings, followed by a series of parallel thematic workshops where participants exchanged experiences, ideas, and good practices. The discussions focused on topics such as educational alliances between schools, families and organisations, online violence and digital citizenship, affective and sexuality education, intersectionality, and creating safer spaces based on consent, respect and inclusion.

During the plenary session, the results of three European projects were presented: EGAR – Emotional Education, Gender-Based Violence Awareness and Revenge Porn Contrast, and Sexuality Connect. This provided an opportunity to showcase the work carried out within the projects, share educational resources and methodologies, and highlight the importance of international cooperation in addressing gender equality, sexuality education, and violence prevention.

As part of the dissemination activities, Sexuality Connect contributed to raising awareness of the importance of comprehensive sexuality education, encouraging open dialogue on relationships, consent, diversity, and respect. The project aims to equip youth workers and educators with innovative tools to foster inclusive learning environments and support young people in making informed, respectful, and responsible choices.

The event concluded with a networking aperitif, allowing participants to build new connections, exchange ideas, and explore future opportunities for collaboration. The positive engagement of professionals and organisations confirmed the value of creating spaces where education, community participation, and international cooperation come together to promote a culture of respect.

Through its participation in “Costruire il Rispetto”, Sexuality Connect strengthened the dissemination of its objectives and results while contributing to a broader dialogue on preventing gender-based violence and promoting healthy, respectful relationships across Europe.
