Kehsia engaged, as a partner of GAIALUX, to promote the Sustainable Development Goals

On the 4th of June, at SOLINA Jongenheem a.s.b.l., in Bertrange, was hold, by GAIALUX in partnership with KEHSIA, an intervention on the 15th Sustainable development goal.

A reminder of the 21st of May – 11th SDG

After a quick warming up on what we did last time on the 11th Sustainable development goal, we show an emotional map wrapping up the personal emotional maps previously made.

We went back on the mission the seven students had: take pictures of their three favorite places explaining them. On three different post-it, we wrote three places that could bring us positive and negative feelings. As a all, those feelings were shared among the places wrote down.

An unquestionable link between the sustainable development goals 11th and 15th

Following the activities and the reflections taken from the last intervention, on the 21st of May, on the 11th Sustainable development goal, the link between those SDGs was made.

On the way to build sustainable cities and communities, nature must be present as a component from the urban areas to reach those goals. To implement nature within the cities and communities, we need to get familiar with what does nature is.

Nature definition is a personal definition

Life on Land – 15th SDG – was first introduced by asking “What does nature mean to you? What does it teach you?”. Based on their inputs – well-being, beauty, patient, questioning, peace, colors – we looked closer to the biodiversity present in Mamer commune. The rich variety of species living in Mamer commune raised awareness on species in danger and the one disappearing due to human activities.

Even if neither “nature” or “forest” came up from the first part to share their favorite places, the motivation and enthusiasm were present when it was time to talk about it.

Representations that we are making about nature is going beyond our image of a forest and trees, it is reflecting on all its components (even the one that could stay unseen if we do not stop and take the time to cherish it).

This activity is part of IDEE en ACTION project coordinated by GAIALUX asbl in partnership with KEHSIA asbl thanks to the support of Fondation Sommers.
