Survey Launched for Orange Week: A Collaborative Effort to Promote SDG 5 and Raise Awareness on Gender Equality

As we approach Orange Week, a global initiative dedicated to raising awareness about gender-based violence and gender equality, we at Kehsia are excited to announce a new survey project that will contribute to this important cause. This survey is the result of a joint effort between three dedicated organizations: Kehsia, Cooperation Nord-Sud, and Gaialux. Together, we aim to raise awareness, inspire action, and foster a deeper understanding of gender equality, with a special focus on the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5, which calls for gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls.

Orange Week, an annual event marked by campaigns around the world, serves as a crucial moment to reflect on the progress made toward gender equality and address the challenges that remain. At its heart, the week emphasizes the need to combat violence against women and girls, promote equal opportunities, and end all forms of discrimination. This year, as part of the observance of Orange Week, we have launched a survey that aims to bring these issues closer to the younger generation, educating children and young people about gender equality, the importance of inclusion, and the need for a world free from violence and discrimination.

Our survey addresses two key areas of SDG 5: the elimination of violence against women and the promotion of equal opportunities for all. By targeting a younger audience, we hope to plant the seeds of awareness early on, fostering a generation of individuals who are not only informed about the current state of gender equality but also motivated to be part of the solution. We believe that education plays a critical role in shaping the future, and this survey is one small but significant step toward a more equitable world.

Through this survey, we hope to encourage reflection and conversation. We want to inspire young people to think critically about gender equality, challenge stereotypes, and promote a culture of respect and inclusion. Additionally, this initiative offers an opportunity to collect valuable data that will help us understand the level of awareness about gender equality among children and identify areas where more educational efforts are needed.

Participation in the survey is easy and will take only a few minutes. We have made the survey available in both English and French, ensuring accessibility to a broader audience. We invite all children, students, and young people to participate and share their thoughts with us. The more responses we receive, the more effective our collective efforts will be in shaping a future where gender equality is not just a goal, but a lived reality for all.

By taking part in the survey, you are helping to raise awareness of gender equality and contribute to the global movement towards a more just and equitable world. Your participation is essential for creating meaningful change, and together, we can work toward achieving the targets set out in SDG 5.
