Woman We Walk

Enhancing adult women’s lifestyle by promoting walking football practice

Gender Equality

The project promotes gender equality in sport by addressing stereotypes and cultural barriers that limit women’s participation in physical activity. Through Walking Football, Woman We Walk supports the right of adult women to engage in sport within a safe, respectful, and empowering environment, recognising sport as a tool for personal and social empowerment.

Social Inclusion

Woman We Walk encourages the active participation of women from diverse backgrounds, with particular attention to those at risk of social exclusion. Activities are designed to be accessible, welcoming, and inclusive, fostering social cohesion, intercultural dialogue, and a strong sense of community through sport.

Equal Opportunities in Access to Sport

The project is committed to reducing inequalities in access to physical activity by providing sporting opportunities suitable for different fitness levels and physical conditions. Walking Football, thanks to its low-impact nature and flexible implementation, represents a practical solution to make sport more accessible, sustainable, and open to all.

WHAT WE DO

Woman We Walk (WWW!) implements a structured programme of research, capacity building, field activities, and dissemination to promote physical activity and wellbeing among adult women through Walking Football. We investigate the levels and causes of physical inactivity among adult women, with particular attention to cultural factors, gender dynamics, and barriers to participation. This phase includes literature review, interviews, and surveys aimed at building an evidence-based foundation for project activities. We co-design educational materials and training methodologies for Walking Football. These resources support sport professionals and grassroots organisations in delivering safe, inclusive, and effective activities that enhance participants’ physical, mental, and social wellbeing. We organise Walking Football Bootcamps in informal and community spaces such as parks and neighbourhood areas. These activities aim to facilitate participation, increase the visibility of women in sport, and promote positive role models for active lifestyles.
