On March 4th, KEHSIA, thanks to the event “L’Art au féminin” at the Villa Vauban in Luxembourg, had the pleasure of enabling a group of participants to attend the guided tour organized by the Villa on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
THE VISIT OF “L’ART AU FÉMININ”
Participants had the opportunity to take part in a thematic tour inside the Villa highlighting the contribution of women artists to the Luxembourgish art scene of the 20th century. The visit offered a chronological and thematic journey that allowed attendees to understand not only the stylistic evolution of the artworks, but also the historical and social context in which these artists were working. The guide emphasized the difficulties women faced in the art world, noting that for many of them only limited historical information is available. For those artists about who more is known, particular attention was given to their educational opportunities, their professional networks, and the forms of recognition they were able to achieve. The exhibition “Bienvenue à la Villa (3)!” features 67 works drawn from both older collections and more recent acquisitions of the Villa Vauban. These works were created by 19 artists, 8 of who are women. Through a dialogue with their male counterparts, the artworks by these women offer new perspectives on the development of art up to the early decades of the 2000s.
SEXUALITY CONNECT
Following the guided tour, which concluded in the Villa’s gardens with the presentation of two additional works related to women’s art displayed in the outdoor spaces, the KEHSIA team had the opportunity to introduce the project SEXUALITY CONNECT. This is a digital tool designed to support inclusive sexual education for young people, addressing sexuality in a modern, digital context and providing accessible and inclusive information that reflects the realities of today’s youth. The project is carried out by KEHSIA in partnership with DONNEXSTRADA in Italy and EDUCATE in Spain. The presentation fit perfectly within the context of the day, dedicated to valuing women’s perspectives and highlighting the importance of education and awareness. The project promotes inclusion, respect, and knowledge in the field of emotional and sexual education. Participants were informed about the project’s activities, structure, and objectives, and were invited, if they were interested, to watch recordings of previous meetings and join upcoming online sessions. Special attention was also given to the collaborative and international dimension of the project, which involves cooperation with organizations in different countries. This partnership creates opportunities for international mobility for young people aged 18 to 30, offering them the chance to participate in exchanges that promote an intercultural approach to sexual education.
A CLOSING PICNIC
To conclude the morning spent together, KEHSIA organized a small picnic in the Villa’s garden. With food, drinks and coffee, a friendly and convivial atmosphere was created where everyone felt free to share their thoughts about the guided tour and what they had learned, as well as to ask further questions about the organization and the project that had been presented.
